While there is no legislation requirement to disclose any of the governance information found on this website or to hold Annual Public Meetings, Canada Post believes that providing such information and holding Annual Public Meetings provide an excellent opportunity to reach out our customers, employees and all Canadians.

Canada Post is committed to continue to provide updated governance information and will also continue to hold public meetings each year in various locations throughout Canada. Canada Post held its second annual public meeting in Hamilton, Ontario on Wednesday, June 18, 2008.

The Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities, the Hon. Lawrence Cannon has portfolio responsibility for Canada Post Corporation.

The appointment process of the Board of Directors

Each director, other than the Chairperson and the President and Chief Executive Officer, is appointed by the Minister, with the approval of the Governor in Council, for a term of up to four years. A director can be re-appointed to the Board on the expiration of his/her term.

The Chairperson of the Board of Directors is appointed by the Governor in Council for a term the Governor in Council considers appropriate. The President and Chief Executive Officer of the Corporation is appointed by the Governor in Council for a term the Governor in Council considers appropriate.
