- What is changing for Addressed Admail?
Canada Post is implementing new technology and business processes to better manage Addressed Admail LCP mailings. Key changes are with Canada Post's Electronic Shipping Tool (EST) order submission and enhancements to SERP presortation software.
- EST will generate the barcoded forms - Statement of Mailing and Packing Slip
- SERP presortation software, with Barcode Recognition, will generate barcoded container, monotainer / pallet labels - this will enable event capture at induction and container destination processing points
- The On-line Business Centre (OBC) through Canada Post's website will provide the new "Track a Mailing" functionality

"Track a Mailing" will provide customers with selected event tracking information about their items, as they are processed through Canada Post's system.

- SERP presortation software functionalities to include file import and barcode capabilities can start as early as January 12, 2004. (Note: SERP Vendor adoption is optional).

No. Only Addressed Admail Letter Carrier Presort customers using the desktop version of EST to prepare and submit their orders electronically and using SERP presortation software with Barcode Recognition will benefit from Canada Post's new technology and business processes through "Track a Mailing".

- What type of printer is required?
Most EST- generated Addressed Admail forms and SERP - generated container, monotainer / pallet labels will contain a barcode. A laser or thermal printer will produce the high quality, readable barcodes.

- What is "Barcode Recognition"?
Barcode Recognition identifies the required result (or what the customer will see) which is barcodes on their container, monotainer / pallet labels.
Barcode Recognition also incorporates other very important requirements such as:
- File structures to be in accordance with Specifications provided to SERP Vendors by Canada Post
- The ability to import files from SERP to EST for use in finalizing the electronic order, then to Canada Post's server
- The ability to provide barcoded container, monotainer/pallet labels

- How will customers know if their SERP vendor has had their software tested and approved by Canada Post?
Developers who have submitted their software for testing will be identified for "Barcode Recognition".
The existing list of Recognized Presortation Software will include a separate check box to identify each SERP vendor that is approved for "Barcode Recognition"
