Direct Mail Formats

Direct mail is an excellent medium to deliver your advertising message - on a targeted and personalized basis to those most likely to be interested in your product or service. Once you have targeted your audience and we have delivered your Item, the success of your campaign rests with the recipient.

The role of direct mail creative is to produce an immediate action on the part of the reader - usually after a single exposure. The ultimate goal is to have your mail:

  • Get Noticed;
  • Get Opened;
  • Get Read;
  • Get a Response.

If your direct mail package can successfully accomplish these things, the chances of you making a sale will be much stronger. But don't forget - targeting and the offer made to the recipient are also key variables to direct mail success.

The direct mail medium is highly flexible in that a number of basic formats exist to help you deliver your message and generate interest and action. The most common formats are the following:

Self-mailer
An Item mailed by itself without an outside envelope.

Multi-mailing
Mailings that include a number of loose slips, each featuring a different offer.

Catalogue
A proven direct mail tool to showcase a variety of products and services.

Solo mailing
The "classic" mailing format and the staple of the addressed direct mail business.
